SOLID
DIRECT
Your doctor. Anywhere you are.
Now accepting patients throughout California.
A board-certified internist managing your diabetes, blood pressure, and metabolic health — by monthly subscription. No insurance hassles. No unexpected bills. No waiting rooms.
You deserve a doctor who knows your whole metabolic picture.
If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or metabolic syndrome, you've probably experienced the same frustrating cycle: a 5-minute appointment, a prescription refill, no real conversation, and nothing actually changing.
Big-box telehealth GLP-1 companies simply rubber-stamping prescriptions are convenient. But they manage one medication at a time. They don't know you and how your conditions are interconnected.
Solid DIRECT is different. You get one board-certified internist, metabolic health specialist, Dr. Woojin Joo managing your A1c, your blood pressure, your weight, and your medications as one integrated picture. By video and message.
No commute. No insurance forms. No rotating doctors.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes, for now. Dr. Joo is licensed in California only, though we're actively working to expand — join our waitlist to be notified when we open in your state.
-
No problem — we can order labs through your insurance or offer wholesale pricing, which is sometimes more affordable than a copay. We're not able to verify specific insurance benefits in advance.
-
In most cases, yes. If you have an HMO plan, imaging or specialist referrals must come from your assigned HMO doctor to be covered by insurance. If you're paying out of pocket or seeing someone out-of-network, Dr. Joo can refer you directly.
-
Many patients are able to use HSA/FSA funds for our services. Since eligibility varies, we recommend checking with your accountant or tax advisor — we're not able to advise on this directly.
-
Most chronic condition management doesn't require in-person visits. If a new symptom needs urgent evaluation, Dr. Joo will help guide you to the right in-person care.
-
Medicare regulations don't allow us to charge for this service to Medicare beneficiaries. Please contact us directly to discuss your options.
-
Dr. Joo provides consultations fully in Korean across a wide range of medical topics. He's served a primarily Korean-speaking patient community in Koreatown, Los Angeles for nearly 5 years.
-
Not exactly. Our focus is on metabolic health as a foundation for long-term wellness, though there's some overlap with primary care. We don't handle routine health-maintenance paperwork (like vaccine tracking, screening reminders, FMLA, disability, or DMV forms) — your assigned primary care doctor can help with those.
-
It's similar in spirit — both models prioritize personalized attention and direct access to your doctor. Our program is specifically focused on metabolic health, so while there's overlap with the concierge approach, our scope is more targeted than a full concierge primary care practice.
Concierge practices typically charge higher annual retainers and still bill your insurance for visits. With Solid DIRECT, your monthly membership covers everything we offer with no additional insurance billing. It's a more affordable and transparent way to get the same level of attention.
-
We manage most medications for chronic conditions, but we don't prescribe controlled substances such as sedatives, narcotics, or stimulants.
-
No, this is not insurance, and we recommend keeping your health insurance active for emergencies and other coverage needs.
-
We intentionally don't bill insurance for our services. This allows Dr. Joo to focus solely on you — not on insurance requirements or restrictions — so he can tailor care to your specific goals. Many patients find this model allows for a level of accessibility and personalization that's difficult to achieve within a traditional insurance-based practice. We still recommend maintaining insurance coverage for emergencies, hospitalizations, and other services outside our scope.
-
It depends on your plan. If you have an HMO, you'll likely still need your assigned PCP for insurance-covered referrals to specialists or imaging.
-
You can absolutely still work with us. Just note that HMO plans require referrals from your assigned in-network doctor for imaging or specialist visits to be covered — we're not able to issue in-network referrals with an HMO plan.
-
Many larger platforms are built for volume — often relying on brief intake forms, limited physician contact, and a one-size-fits-all protocol. Our approach is physician-led and personalized: Dr. Joo gets to know you, your health history, and your goals, and adjusts your care plan accordingly. We focus on sustainable, individualized metabolic health rather than a quick prescription.
-
Canceling is simple — just reach out to our team, no long-term contract required. Please note that if you cancel and choose to rejoin later, the enrollment fee will apply again.
